FSU football received some exciting news Thursday when two transfers from Mississippi State were granted a waiver to play in 2020.

FSU football has endured some trying times over the past six months when it comes to recruiting.

The Noles have new staff with little ties to the state of Florida while trying to overcome unprecedented times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

They’re making a ton of top lists for quality players, but not being able to show a product on the field has made it extremely difficult to reel in those elite players.

Despite those circumstances, Mike Norvell and staff have been able to bring in some talented players via other avenues.

It all began with getting Marvin Wilson, Corey Durden, and Tamorrion Terry to return for 2020.

The defensive line is thought to be a strength of the team, with Wilson and Durden considered two of the top defensive tackles in the nation. A defensive line without those two would look a lot different.

Mike Norvell and staff know that so when Fabien Lovett announced he was hitting the transfer portal, they were all over him. FSU football has depth at the defensive back position, but a team can never have too much competitive depth. They were able to get former four-star defensive back Jarrian Jones to come to Tallahassee from Mississippi State as well.

Usually, players, that transfer from one Division I school to another have to set out a year unless the NCAA approves a waiver.

FSU found out both waivers for Lovett and Jones were approved, and they will be immediately eligible to play in 2020.

Let’s discuss the impact of the news.
