FSU QB commit Luke Altmyer continues to gain accolades before his senior season as he’s been invited to the 2021 Under Armour All-American game.
FSU head coach Mike Norvell and FSU offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham came to FSU with a reputation as being excellent talent evaluators.
They identified 2021 quarterback Luke Altmyer as the guy they wanted after evaluating him, and now he’s making them look like geniuses.
He has steadily seen his recruiting rating go up since he committed to the Noles on February 3 as a composite three-star recruit.
Altmyer is now considered a four-star composite recruit and will likely improve that ranking once high school football games can be played. He’s considered the No. 14 pro-style QB in the nation, but I expect him to ascend into the top 10 before the final rankings are updated.
The Mississippi native recently gained an Alabama offer but still seems to be locked in with the Noles. He received an invite to the prestigious Under Armour All-American game Sunday evening:
Thoughts
Luke Altmyer is arguably the most important commit in the 2021 FSU recruiting class. The quarterback position has been one of mediocrity for the most part since the Jameis Winston era ended. A lot of that is on Jimbo Fisher missing on some QB targets and Willie Taggart being unable to sign a QB during his time in Tallahassee combined with multiple offensive coordinators.
The quarterback position doesn’t seem to be a problem for Mike Norvell. He signed two quarterbacks in the 2020 class in Tate Rodemaker and Chubba Purdy. Tate Rodemaker was chosen to play in the Under Armour All-American Game last year and Purdy was a composite four-star recruit.
FSU hadn’t had a quarterback to play in a high school All-American game since Deondre Francois half a decade ago before that.
It looks like the future is bright with a lot of talent vying to become QB1 in Tallahassee for the foreseeable future.
