FSU football: Reactions to Hunter Washington commitment to FSU
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football got its sixth commitment in its 2021 recruiting class and reactions from all over to pour in for the blue-chip addition.
FSU football added a verbal commitment from four-star defensive back Hunter Washington earlier Tuesday afternoon.
The Katy, Texas, product chose the Noles over nearly 30 other offers and stated he “wanted to bring the tradition back” to FSU.
Presumably, I’d say Washington was referring to FSU’s place among the “DBU” debate, but he could also be referring to the program as a whole.
It’s one of the most recognizable brands in college football and the reaction to his commitment was felt on social media.

It’s a big get for Mike Norvell and defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson who had a relationship with Washington dating back to his Auburn coaching days.
It’s also great to see the coaching staff can go to Texas and pull a blue-chip player with major offers while they work to develop their relationships in-state where defensive backs seem to grow on trees.
Tennessee and other programs have been cooking with gas on the recruiting trails which have drawn the ire of some FSU fans who wonder why the Noles haven’t been as hot. I spoke on that here a few days ago but also cautioned that it’s better for the Noles to maintain right now and get hot closer or during the actual football season.
FSU winning on the field is going to help the program more than anything else at this point as recruits need to see what the coaching staff can produce.
Washington was one of four blue-chip players who’ve been trending towards the Noles so this commitment could be foreshadowing of things to come.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see one or two more additions in the very near future as momentum is very real in college football recruiting.
