Reality

It’s simple, FSU’s coaching staff is in their first full recruiting cycle and was behind because of having to finish up the 2020 recruiting cycle on short notice.

Teams like Tennessee and North Carolina have had their coaching staff intact for long with the ability to create the relationships earlier.

They also have more to sale:

The FSU coaching staff can say look at what we did at Memphis, but that was at Memphis and will only go so far.

Think of it as a job interview where someone has the potential to do something well, but other candidates have proven they can do it already. All things considered, the person that can prove they can do the job is going to get the job more times than not.

FSU needs the season to arrive so they can give prove the vision their selling, not to mention the program isn’t in shape to compete for championships in year one of Mike Norvell anyway. It’s going to take a couple of years at least to get to that point.
