FSU football: What if Kirk Herbstreit is right about no 2020 college football?

Pros

I’ve talked about the difficult job of any first-year coach trying to implement the offense, defense and special teams without completing spring practice.

Even if the Noles can make up the 12 spring practices remaining, it still won’t be the same compared to if spring practice happened under normal circumstances.

Not playing in 2020 means the Noles would have additional time to have the offense, defense, and special teams playbooks down pat. It also means the quarterbacks would be all on a level playing field with a chance to separate themselves for the 2021 season.

It would give the FSU football team another year to make up ground in the strength and conditioning areas too. Coach Josh Storms and staff have done a great in the 10 weeks or so they’ve had access to the players, and another year would be great.

Would Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne return for Clemson in 2021? It’s doubtful for Etienne, and I find it hard for Lawrence to pass up being the No. 1 overall pick too.

Those two possibly not returning likely closes the gap some between FSU football and Clemson. I know they reload on talent nowadays, but it’d be difficult to replace that experience and production.

It would also give FSU football coaches time to continue building relationships with coaches on the recruiting front. It would hurt they wouldn’t have a product to show on the field yet, but it would give them more time to get recruits on campus to see practices, etc.
