FSU football: What if Kirk Herbstreit is right about no 2020 college football?
By Kelvin Hunt
Would FSU football benefit from Kirk Herbstreit being right about not having college football in 2020? Let’s discuss the pros and cons.
FSU football fans are eager to get to the 2020 college football season with Mike Norvell at the helm.
There’s optimism he will get this program heading in the right direction after three years of mediocrity under Jimbo Fisher and Willie Taggart.
However, things are up in the air with the coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc with no certain timetable of when things will get back to normal.
Well, respected College Football Analyst Kirk Herbstreit went on record and stated he’d be shocked if there was any NFL or college football this fall.
"“I’ll be shocked if we have NFL football this fall, if we have college football. I’ll be so surprised if that happens,” Herbstreit said. “Just because from what I understand, people that I listen to, you’re 12 to 18 months from a [coronavirus] vaccine. I don’t know how you let these guys go into locker rooms and let stadiums be filled up and how you can play ball. I just don’t know how you can do it with the optics of it.”"
Herbstreit is usually a straight shooter in a world full of analysts and talking heads that say things just to get attention. Let’s be clear, he’s no expert when it comes to pandemics, but it’s worth noting this could happen if people fail to follow directions in the coming weeks and months.
After all, we saw Hong Kong handle its coronavirus problem well only to return to normal too quickly to see cases explode all over again. I think that’s why Herbstreit mentions the need for a vaccine to prevent that from happening.
If this were to happen, what would be the pros and cons of FSU football? Of course, it would suck to go that long without seeing our Noles in action.
Let’s look at a few.
