Chop Chat’s Sam Tschida takes a look at what he thinks the FSU football 2020 safety depth chart will look like.

Over the past several weeks, I have been breaking down projected depth charts for FSU football during the upcoming season.

Earlier this week, I broke down what I projected the cornerback depth chart to look like in 2020, which you can read here.

As mentioned in the cornerback piece, Florida State has a storied history of great defensive back play. While the list of All-Pro corners who have walked the streets of Tallahassee is impressive, there have been a whole bunch of great safeties as well.

From national champion Lamarcus Joyner to Derwin James, safety is not a position that has lacked star power in recent seasons.

Aside from Levonta Taylor (who also doubled as a corner during his time in Tallahassee), the ‘Noles return all the 2019 production at safety, barring any transfers during the spring.

The safety position might be the deepest of any spot on the roster with the possible exception of wide receiver, having a good mix of both experienced upperclassmen and young guys.
