Chop Chat’s Sam Tschida takes a look at what he thinks FSU football 2020 cornerback depth chart will look like.

Over the past several weeks, the staff here at Chop Chat has been breaking down projected depth charts for FSU football during the upcoming season. Check out our breakdown of the defensive line and linebackers here and here.

Today, we’ll take a look at the cornerback position, a traditional strength of the FSU defense. From NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders to current All-Pro Jalen Ramsey, the ‘Noles have a tradition of producing great cornerbacks in Tallahassee.

This upcoming season, the ‘Noles return most of their production at cornerback. Currently, the only departures are Stanford Samuels III., who decided to leave a year early for the NFL, Levonta Taylor due to graduation, and AJ Lytton, who was recently removed from the roster.

Samuels was a two-year starter at Florida State and finished his career with eight interceptions. Samuels is a projected mid-to-late round NFL Draft pick, and while he did struggle at times, leaves behind a lot of production that must be picked up.

Taylor was an on-and-off-again starter at safety and corner over four seasons, and the ‘Noles will miss the depth that he provides. Lytton had one interception over two seasons at FSU and was the second-highest-rated recruit in the 2018 class.
