Luke Altmyer Can Be Elite

FSU football has had sub-par QB play since Jameis Winston left after the 2014 season. Everett Golson was a non-factor after transferring from Notre Dame.

Sean Maguire was limited talent-wise and still took the position back from Golson. Deondre Francois wasn’t close to elite.

Even his 2016 season where he won ACC Rookie of the Year didn’t display elite ability. I also have to wonder just how much of having Dalvin Cook in the backfield helped Francois.

James Blackman has tools but has regressed since Jimbo Fisher left although he never should have been playing as a true freshman.

Nevertheless, Luke Altmyer is a quarterback that can change the game for FSU. I’m not saying he’ll be the equivalent of Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, but he will likely he will put up some monster numbers in Mike Norvell’s offense provided they get the offensive line respectable.

They’ll have at least two years to make that happen. He already has a faster 40 time, faster shuttle, higher vertical and is a better passer than Jeff Sims who was a four-star QB as a former FSU commit last year.
