Go True Freshman Route

One of the best things Mike Norvell has done since he arrived at FSU less than a month ago was sign two quarterbacks in the Early Signing Period.

What’s even better? One of those quarterbacks (Tate Rodemaker) will be an early enrollee. We’ve seen a number of true freshman who early enroll have success playing in year one.

A prime example is former FSU commit Sam Howell who lit it up with North Carolina this season.

The Tarheels only won seven games, but they were competitive in almost every game and are not nearly as talented as FSU roster wise.

If Rodemaker were to have a strong spring and learn the playbook, it would be conceivable to go with him as the starter.

After all, he’d have just as much experience in Mike Norvell’s offense as Blackman or Jordan Travis and would have a clean slate to work with. If his play isn’t exactly where we want it to be as fans, at least it’s understood he’s a true freshman and mishaps are going to happen.

However, players with the experience of Blackman playing as poor as he did in the Sun Bowl isn’t something fans want to support another season.
