Final Thoughts

It’s going to be interesting to see how Mike Norvell decides to attack these issues. How hard will he go after the players that were formerly committed?

Are there any current commits he doesn’t want necessarily as that’s always a possibility? The good news is Norvell knows how to work the JUCO and transfer portal markets and had a lot of success at Memphis in that department.

Sometimes that’s boom or bust, but it’s also likely to be more successful in terms of getting players on the field who are already experienced and college ready physically.

The good news is Norvell doesn’t have a huge gap to close like Willie Taggart did with the 2018 class which was ranked in the mid-60’s when Taggart took over.

Norvell will also have more help on the recruiting trail than Taggart. It looks like a solid portion of his staff is already on board with Dillingham, Odell Haggins and possibly Ron Dugans who sent out a tweet Tuesday that implied he could be retained.

The early signing period will be important as the more they can get signed, the more than can concentrate on the players remaining to sign in February while starting on the 2021 recruiting class.
