QB Depth

Willie Taggart can’t sign a quarterback was the running joke after National Signing Day 2019. The Noles lost a recruiting battle to Maryland with Lance LeGendre.

However, I said at the time it was more a perception hit than anything because there’s no guarantee LeGendre would qualify academically nor would he play in 2019 as a true freshman.

Fast forward and I’m still not sure LeGendre will qualify and FSU has addressed it’s QB depth issue via the transfer portal.

The Noles are now in a much better position depth wise than had they landed LeGendre. Willie Taggart was able to lure Alex Hornibrook from Wisconsin who has one year left to play as a graduate transfer and can play immediately.

He got Wyatt Rector who transferred from Western Michigan who will have to apply for a waiver from the NCAA.

The Noles also got Jordan Travis who transferred from Louisville who is still waiting on his transfer waiver appeal.

FSU fans were weary of James Blackman making it through the season injury free(which is weird considering he did it with a terrible offensive line in 2017) who’s the likely starter and Alex Hornibrook who both have a lot of starting experience.

They also still have Nolan McDonald who ran scout team last season. All in the all, the QB room is set with four-star recruit Jeff Sims already committed and recruiting hard for the 2020 recruiting cycle.
