NFL Draft 2017: Schedule, Picks and Broadcast Information
By Jason Parker
The NFL Draft will begin their 2017 edition later tonight – here’s all the information you will need to get you through the next three days.
For the 82nd time starting Thursday night, the National Football League will hold their annual player selection meeting – more commonly known to all of us as the NFL Draft. What started with nine teams combining for 81 picks on a 1936 February afternoon in Philadelphia will turn into 32 teams combining for 253 picks over three days this weekend…in Philadelphia.
From the time the Cleveland Browns make the first pick Thursday night to the Denver Broncos (baring a trade) making the final pick sometime early Saturday evening, the eyes of both the pro and college football world will be glued to the television or computer to see who their favorite team takes – or where their favorite player goes.
FSU football fans are hoping to have another player taken in the first round – which would make five straight NFL drafts and seven of the last eight – as Dalvin Cook could be taken on the opening day. Mock drafts have anywhere from five to six total former Seminoles being picked over the three day period.
Here’s all the information you will need to get set for three days of football bliss.
Schedule
The 2017 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday night shortly after 8 p.m. with the first round. On Friday, the event starts off at 7 p.m. with rounds two and three taking place – while Saturday will showcase rounds four through seven will begin at 12 p.m.
Television / Livestream Info
Since 1980, ESPN has broadcast the draft live and will continue to do so both on the main channel as well as ESPN2. You can also watch online if you’re away from home using the WatchESPN app anywhere from your computer or mobile device (click here to access).
If you don’t feel like watching the Worldwide Leader, the NFL Network will be broadcasting the draft for the 12th straight time. For FSU football fans, there may be more attraction to that broadcast since it will feature former Seminoles star (and No. 5 pick in 1989) Deion Sanders.

Location
For the ninth time, the NFL Draft will take place in Philadelphia, PA – however, it will be the first time since the 1961 selection meeting (a draft where one FSU player, Tony Romeo, was picked in the 19th round by the Washington Redskins).
This year, the draft will take place outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art at Eakins Oval – becoming the first NFL Draft to be completely outdoors as players will be selected on a stage built on the steps made famous in the movie Rocky.
