NCAA Tournament 2016: Sweet 16 Game Info, Betting Odds and Predictions
By Kelvin Hunt
The NCAA Tournament will resume Thursday night with the Sweet 16 teams that are remaining. How many ACC teams will make the Elite 8?
March Madness and the NCAA Tournament will resume tonight with the first game beginning at 7:10 p.m. EST. There is a record six ACC schools remaining in the hunt to win the National Championship.
It would be the second time in eight years that the ACC has won back-to-back National Championships. UNC and Duke won the championship in 2009 and 2010. Duke won the National Championship in 2015.
The remaining ACC schools and their seeds are as follows:
- (1) UNC
- (1) Virginia
- (3) Miami
- (4) Duke
- (6) Notre Dame
- (10) Syracuse
Here’s the NCAA Tournament schedule for the Sweet 16 below:
Thursday, March 24th
Friday, March 25th
For our readers that are interested in betting on the games. The odds are as follows(all lines courtesy of Bovada and please bet responsibly):
- Villanova (-4) at -115, Miami (+4) at -105
- Texas A&M (+3.5) at -115, Oklahoma (-3.5) at -105
- Maryland (+6) at -110, Kansas (-6) at -110
- Duke (+3.5) at -105, Oregon (-3.5) at -115
- Virginia (-5) at -110, Iowa St. (+5) -110
- Wisconsin (+1) at -110, Notre Dame (-1) at -110
- Gonzaga (-4) at -105, Syracuse (+4) at -115
- UNC (-5.5) at -110, Indiana (+5.5) at -110
Of course, these are the current betting odds and they are subject to change. So three ACC teams are favored to win and three are betting underdogs, really two since the Notre Dame/Wisconsin game is a pick’em pretty much.
All of the No. 1 seeds are favorites as expected, but it’s interesting that Oregon is only a 3.5 favorite since Duke will be playing on the west coast. It’s a neutral game site, but Oregon should have more fans in attendance than Duke, then there’s the time zone factor. Will Duke players have time to acclimate to the three-hour difference? If so, I like Duke in a mild upset.

I think Miami is a tough team that rebounds well and can play physical ball, but I like Villanova to advance. I think Oklahoma and Buddy Hield will be too much for Texas A&M. I like Kansas over Maryland and Virginia over Iowa State.
I like Notre Dame over Wisconsin since the Fighting Irish are proficient on offense inside and on the perimeter. I think Syracuse is playing good ball right now, and the zone could give Gonzaga problems, plus Syracuse has been playing well offensively too. I like UNC over Indiana.
So we have five ACC teams making the Elite 8? Say what!! Maybe we’re being too much like those SEC teams that piggyback on the conference when their team takes an L?
