Jimbo Fisher Speaks About FSU Draft Picks
By David Visser
With 11 FSU draft picks pacing the field in the 2015 NFL Draft, Jimbo Fisher saw another massive assortment of talented Seminoles depart for the professional ranks. But that’s nothing new. Florida State has seen 36 players drafted since Fisher took over in 2011. He commented over the past few days about the ‘Noles selected in Chicago, beginning with No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston; those comments can be viewed here.
NFL squads picked 10 more Seminoles after Winston. Here are Fisher’s takes on those players, in order of their selection in the draft:
On Cameron Erving:
“I can’t be happier for Cam and his family. He was a true Seminole and a selfless leader on our record-breaking team. His versatility and willingness to sacrifice for the team led us to a National Championship and 29 consecutive wins here. He is a perfect fit for the Browns. He can play every offensive line position and it will be fun to see him continue to develop and have success as a pro.”
On Mario Edwards, Jr.:
“This a great moment for Mario and his family. I’m very excited for him. Mario got better every year. He was a dominant player and a leader of our defense. It will be fun watching him continue to improve with the Raiders. He has the ability to be a great player in the NFL.”
On Eddie Goldman:
“I’m very proud of Eddie and happy for his family. He had a great career here and improved every season. He was a tremendous leader and force of nature on our defensive line this past season. He will contribute right away for the Bears and is only going to get better. I’m looking forward to watching him in the pro’s.”
On Ronald Darby:
“Ronald had a great career for us at FSU. I’m really excited for him and his family. He has great coverage skills and is lightning fast. He has the ability to be a terrific cornerback in the NFL. He will be a perfect fit with the Bills.”
On P.J. Williams:
“I’m very happy for P.J. He was a key part of our historic run the past two seasons as a playmaking defensive back. P.J. is the kind of physical cornerback who can be a standout player in the NFL. I really enjoyed coaching him and I’m excited to watch him play for the Saints.”
On Tre’ Jackson:
“Tre is one heck of a player. He is as tough as they come. He was often our best offensive lineman most games over the past two years. I’m happy for him and his family. He should be a perfect fit for the Patriots organization and excel in the NFL.“
On Rashad Greene:
“Rashad will be a steal for the Jaguars. They will be very happy with his work ethic and professionalism. He conducted himself as a pro here at Florida State. There aren’t enough good things you can say about him. He set nearly every receiving record and was a leader and a captain for us. In all of my years coaching, he is one of my favorites. He will be a great ambassador for Florida State. I can’t wait to watch him play in Jacksonville.”
On Karlos Williams:
“Karlos is a tremendous athlete and a teammate. I’m happy for him and his family. Karlos did whatever was needed of him at Florida State and that attitude will serve him well in the NFL where he can contribute at running back. He also has the ability to be a terrific special teams player. It will be fun watching him continue to develop with the Bills.”

On Bobby Hart:
“Bobby was a terrific player who improved every year for us. He started three years for us and is still only 20 years old. He’s got a lot of football ahead of him. Congratulations to Bobby and his family, and to the Giants who got a great player.”
