FSU Rapid Reaction: FSU 24 UF 19
By Patrik Nohe
The game between the Florida State Seminoles and the Florida Gators has just gone final, here’s some FSU Rapid Reaction.
It just wouldn’t be a Florida State game if it didn’t involve some drama. And why should FSU’s season finale be any different? Facing the rival Florida Gators at Doak Campbell Stadium the Seminoles overcame UF — and themselves — to extend its win streak to 28. Florida State has now finished two consecutive regular seasons without suffering a loss.

Just take a second and digest that. FSU had only had one undefeated season — EVER — before last year. Now the Seminoles have put back-to-back unbeaten campaigns together.
The last team to beat FSU was UF, that was two years ago.
It looked for a while on Saturday like UF would be the one to end the streak too.
This was not Jameis Winston’s best game. Not even close. A week after having what his head coach labeled his best performance of the season, Winston spotted Florida four turnovers and kept the Florida State offense from generating much momentum at all on Saturday. In many ways it was shades of EJ Manuel, Winston’s predecessor, who also committed four turnovers against UF in his last game at Doak.
It wasn’t all on Winston though.
UF made a couple of incredible plays to reel in those interceptions. While Winston can be faulted for a few bad choices, the UF secondary also made some plays that are worth crediting this afternoon.
The real star was Dalvin Cook though. The true freshman — who was once a UF commit — ran for 144 yards on 24 carries and provided the spark FSU needed to beat the Gators. Cook looked like the most explosive player on the field Saturday, something that couldn’t have been lost on the UF faithful.
And at this point, after 12 games, let’s call it for what it is.
This is who FSU is. This is the team they are. Gritty. Unspectacular. But they win.
It’s like 50 shades of Garnet and Gold this year. The Seminoles just can’t seem to get up until they’re getting choked out a bit. You know that thing you occasionally do to your friends in a running car where you wait for them to get to the door and then pull forward a bit before they can open it? That’s 2014 FSU.
But hey, for all their worts– these Seminoles win.
Here, once again, FSU found itself locked into a battle that went late. But unlike every other team in the country has done this year at least once, Florida State failed to lose.
No, it wasn’t pretty. Yes, you might not like FSU. But the Seminoles went undefeated. That’s more than anyone else can say. Don’t let anyone tell you winning 28 straight games isn’t something to be impressed with.
If you don’t like FSU, beat them. Otherwise, give it a rest. These ‘Noles are here to stay.
