FSU vs. BC: ChopChat Staff Picks
By David Visser
Saturday’s FSU vs. BC contest pits the Seminoles against a solid Boston College squad that gave the reigning champs their toughest game of the regular season last year. Read on to see just how our writers think this one shakes out, and what the final score will be.

Florida State’s ability to ignore distractions was put to the ultimate test this week, but now the Seminoles find themselves in a rare position– in the role of the good guys. As AD Stan Wilcox said in his brief press release on Thursday, sports can bring healing and a sense of normality back to a community. On Saturday, it will be as much about healing as football. I don’t expect the ‘Noles to let the rest of their school down, either. It might not be a complete performance — it hasn’t been yet — but FSU should roll by a few scores when its all said and done. Then it’s echoes, FSU.
Pick: 38-20, FSU

FSU players know their fans have their backs through think and thin, and now they’ve a chance to pay that back. ‘Nole Nation will look to the gridiron as a refuge following Thursday’s events, and I think this team, which responds so well when on the ropes, will gamely shoulder the burden of a community that’s been knocked aback. The atmosphere in Doak will be unlike its ever been– let’s just say things could get a little dusty early. The players and fans will feed off each other, and the Seminoles will pull away.
Pick: 41-24, FSU

The eyes are on the prize now. There are only three more obstacles in the way of the Seminoles. Win all of them and they’re in the final four, regardless of what everyone is saying.
With that being said, offensively, not just this week against BC, but from here on out, I’d like to see Dalvin get some more work throughout the entire game. One thing that won’t change in football is that when it comes down to contending for titles, you have to run the ball, and it’s clearly evident that the freshman is the one FSU can rely on most in that department. It’s time to put the majority of the load on his shoulders to get him ready for the big stage.
Defensively, it all comes down to one thing: don’t let one former Florida QB act like another did earlier this year. Basically, there needs to be eyes on Tyler Murphy at all times. He has the same ability as Brissett to take a game over; just see their USC win.
With that being said, FSU pulls this one out by keeping Murphy in check and it’ll be on to the Gators,
Pick: 31-17, FSU

This is a tough game for me to pick. Boston College has lost to teams such as Colorado State, while beating teams like USC the week before. This may be the most well-coached team FSU has faced all year. But after Thursday morning’s tragedy, I just have that feeling that the ‘Noles rally and win this one for the school.
Pick: 34-23, FSU

Boston College can run the ball effectively. Florida State seemingly does everything effectively, except return kickoffs and punts. This game should be controlled by the ‘Noles as long as they don’t decide to wait for the second half to show up.
Pick: 54-28, FSU

Following a hard-fought victory last weekend, and through all that has happened this week, I think the ‘Noles will come out fast in front of a wild home crowd. Boston College is no joke: it has a stellar run-game and a stout defense, but the ‘Noles simply don’t lose. I’ve come to an understanding that FSU isn’t going to blow anyone out or come out fast, so if they do, I’ll be surprised and relieved, but either way I’ve got the ‘Noles. Jameis will be Jameis, and Dalvin Cook will be the star of the run game in this one.
Pick: 38-24, FSU
