It’s FSU vs. Notre Dame this weekend in a top five matchup in Tallahassee, here’s what to watch for.

On Saturday night when the lights go on at Doak Campbell Stadium Florida State will face its biggest test of the 2014 season in Notre Dame. The Irish enter the game ranked 5th in the country and will be looking to upset the Seminoles for the first time in 23 games.

Frankly if Florida State isn’t up for this game, then something’s wrong. There’s no shortage of motivation this week.

Once again, the national media has spent a week harping on Florida State and criticizing the athletic program. The polls dropped FSU to number two –despite FSU not having lost in its past 22 games — after last weekend’s win. Notre Dame is in town for a top five showdown.

This is the time to show up.

“The kids know when you come to Florida State and we keep winning and doing the things we do,” said FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher on Thursday. “These are the kind of primetime games we are in. That is why you want to go to major universities – to have a chance to win championships and to be in these marquee matchups.”
