FSU football went to the transfer portal to take an experienced quarterback for the 2024 season in DJ Uiagalelei. That decision hasn't panned out anywhere close to expectations, but clearly, there were way more issues than Uiagalelei's play.

He broke a finger during the SMU game and has been out for the season since. It's unlikely he'll return in 2025, but FSU will probably need to hit the transfer portal for a quarterback once again because Brock Glenn and Luke Kromenhoek don't look anywhere close to ready to lead FSU to eight or more wins in 2025.

A Wednesday report on a name familiar to FSU football fans indicated he could entere the transfer portal, Boston College's Thomas Castellanos.

FSU football head coach Mike Norvell recruited Castellanos out of high school as a running back, but he wanted to play quarterback and chose to sign with UCF before transferring to Boston College.

I can understand why Castellanos would be attractive to FSU fans. He has put up some big stats against the Noles over the past two seasons. He probably reminds them of Jordan Travis because he can use his legs to extend plays, and Travis had a legendary FSU career under Mike Norvell.

Whoever FSU hires as its new offensive coordinator will likely have input on what they decide at quarterback. However, FSU should hard pass on Castellanos as an option.
