What should we be monitoring for FSU football recruiting?

COULD THE LEGACY COME HOME TO TALLAHASSEE?

Fans already know about four-star wide receiver Devin Carter (Auburn commit) from Douglasville, Georgia thinking about flipping to Florida State. His father, Dexter, played running back for the Seminoles. Ironically enough, Devin Carter used to be a Florida State commit before flipping to Auburn.

However, the Seminoles have another legacy recruit on campus this weekend with four-star defensive back Jay Timmons (Indiana commit) from Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. His father, Lawrence, played linebacker for the program.

I know that the fan base is hesitant about grabbing legacy prospects after what happened last year with defensive end Marvin Jones Jr., who transferred to Oklahoma this offseason. However, if they are talented enough, Florida State needs to continue bringing them in.

Defensive back coaches Patrick Surtain Sr. and Evan Cooper have continued to put in the work on the recruiting trail with four-star Darryl Bell III, four-star Tedarius Hughes, and three-star Sean Johnson in the fold. Plus, five-star Chauncey Kennon has been crystal balled to Florida State.

Timmons could be the icing on the cake as the Seminoles look to secure five talented defensive backs in the class.
