FSU RECRUITING

Florida State football currently has the 11th-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite. This was in large part because the Seminoles added five-star cornerback Chauncey Kennon from Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida.

The Kennon recruitment was eerily similar to former four-star cornerback Charles Lester III from the 2024 recruiting cycle, who is also from Sarasota, Florida. Talk about deja vu...

KENNON'S TATTOO

Speaking of something that happened before, the talented defensive back went to his Instagram account and posted a picture of his tattoo with the Seminole head logo.

Talk about being locked in!

In today's landscape of college football recruiting, high schoolers flip to a new school every week depending on the weather. It is refreshing to see someone make a big commitment, such as a tattoo on their body, like Kennon did.

If Florida State football fans remember, former defensive back Derwin James also got a tattoo after he pledged with the Seminoles in the eighth grade under previous head football coach Jimbo Fisher.

While I am not suggesting that Kennon is going to pan out like Derwin James, it is still a cool moment for the young man. I know that he could get a tattoo removal procedure done, but they are very painful to go through.

DBU IS HERE TO STAY!

In all reality, it looks like the Sarasota, Florida, native is locked into his commitment with the Seminoles. This is a massive victory for defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr., who is considered one of the best recruiters on staff.

Surtain Sr. will have fun having the five-star prospect lock up opposing offensive players. Plus, I cannot wait until every recruiting service knocks him down to a four-star prospect permanently because he is committed to Florida State.
