Florida State's offense will be welcoming a new quarterback this season with either Ashton Daniels, Kevin Sperry, Malachi Marshall, or Dean DeNobile. It is noteworthy that head coach Mike Norvell will be responsible for the play-calling duties.
Norvell had a period of above-average play from the offense when former signal-caller Jordan Travis was in Tallahassee. However, without Travis, the offense sputters to a complete halt.
The good news is that whichever quarterback gets the job in 2026, they will have a multitude of weapons to throw the football to with pass catchers like Duce Robinson, Micahi Danzy, and Jayvan Boggs, who they made sure didn't enter the transfer portal.
Redshirt freshman Tae'Shaun Gelsey has been impressing head coach Mike Norvell
Three wide receivers of that caliber do seem like a cheat code for the offense. It is even better when playmakers are behind them to perform when their numbers are called.
Head coach Mike Norvell spoke to the media after the first day of spring practice on Monday, March 9th. The practices are closed to the media, which frustrated a portion of the fan base because there would be no spring game this year.
Norvell was asked about Duce Robinson and Micahi Danzy in the question for the media, but he began to brag on Tae'Shaun Gelsey by saying that he was really excited about him. The former four-star prospect didn't record any statistics, but he could have opportunities in 2026.
Gelsey isn't a stranger to the hard work and dedication. The Jacksonville, Florida, native caught 61 receptions for 875 yards and 14 touchdowns during his senior season in high school (according to MaxPreps). While I understand that it is high school, Gelsey is listed at 6'4" and 231 pounds where he could be a mismatch nightmare for linebackers, cornerbacks, and safeties.
The coaching staff is more flexible in playing youngsters if they give them a chance. Gelsey is in line for a solid 2026 season if he is healthy.
