This homegrown prospect is a must-grab for Mike Norvell and the Seminoles

This would be a great get for Florida State's recruiting class.

Florida State has five prospects in its 2027 recruiting class, but the narrative of the program has been down with the recent struggles of the last two years. This doesn't give a proof of concept for those elite high school prospects.

Head coach Mike Norvell had the administration elect to retain him for the 2026 season, which didn't create much excitement for the fan base. However, the hope of many is that he can recreate the success of 2022 and 2023.

One of the main issues is player acquisition during Norvell's tenure at Florida State. There became an over-reliance on grabbed pieces from the transfer portal instead of trusting the homegrown talent from the recruiting ranks.

Florida State needs to grab four-star wide receiver Jamarin Simmons from Tallahassee

I will admit that I am a fan of the pieces that were added in the 2025 high school recruiting class. The coaching staff was able to play contributors such as Ousmane Kromah, Jayvan Boggs, Mandrell Desir, Darryll Desir, and others.

The 2026 version should have a similar impact. When the Seminoles play the guys who give the team the best chance to win (regardless of whether they are a veteran or not) will attract more and more high school talent.

One recruit that Florida State has to land in this 2027 class is four-star wide receiver Jamarin Simmons from Godby High School in Tallahassee, Florida. The Seminoles don't have a pass catcher in their class yet, but he would be a great start.

Florida State leads for four-star wide receiver Jabari Watkins from Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville, Georgia, but Simmons is also someone that they cannot strike out on, especially with him living in Tallahassee, Florida, and being in the Seminoles' own backyard.

The Godby High School standout has a crystal ball prediction in favor of Clemson, but Simmons is giving Florida State a chance by scheduling his official visit to campus on the weekend of June 5th. He is the 64th overall prospect in the 2027 247Sports rankings.

If Florida State is serious about getting back in the conversation of having a sustainable program, they have to go and land a talent like Jamarin Simmons away from the Clemson Tigers.
