This FSU player showed more loyalty than most but plans to enter the transfer portal

Good luck to him.

Many Florida State football fans have wondered what the coaching staff would do at the quarterback position going into the 2026 season. One decision by a player probably forces FSU to head to the transfer portal for another quarterback for the third consecutive time.

FSU backup quarterback Brock Glenn announces plans to enter the transfer portal on Tuesday afternoon. First, I respect Glenn for sticking with FSU long enough to graduate without running to the transfer portal immediately. He stuck around after the 2023 season, when he helped FSU win its first ACC title since 2014 as a true freshman.

It was clear he needed more time to develop, and he sat behind DJ Uiagalelei until he was hurt, and took turns with freshman Luke Kromenhoek. He decided to stay at FSU again, even though FSU brought in Thomas Castellanos from the transfer portal.

However, with Tony Tokarz leaving for the offensive coordinator job at the University of Buffalo, it makes sense for Kromenhoek to leave when he was already passed on the depth chart by freshman Kevin Sperry this season. Whether Glenn will follow Tokarz there or not isn’t clear, but it’s clear he wasn’t going to be a starter at FSU.

This move means FSU will have to go back to the transfer portal for another quarterback. Kevin Sperry is the most experienced quarterback on the roster, and freshman Jaden O’Neal hasn’t arrived at FSU yet. FSU can’t go into the 2026 season with two scholarship quartebacks on the roster with no experience. FSU has been in contact with Old Dominion quarterback Colton Joseph, though he’s not my preferred transfer option. I’d like to wish Brock Glenn well. He’s a true Nole, regardless of if he never developed into a starting quarterback.
