FSU head coach Mike Norvell looked like he knew the end of his time at FSU had come after an embarrassing 20-13 loss against a lowly Stanford Cardinals team. He spoke with the media and took full blame for the debacle, almost resigning to his fate, as his voice and demeanor screamed a defeated man .
The rumors of his impending firing were full-bore, and the expectation was that he’d get the ax on Monday morning. However, FSU Athletic Director Michael Alford surprised many by issuing a statement that they planned to stick with Mike Norvell at least until the end of the year.
Here’s the statement below:
In a statement, FSU AD Michael Alford says the school is “fully committed” to Mike Norvell this season and a “comprehensive assessment” of the program will conclude at the season’s end.

The wording of that statement probably wasn’t well thought out, but I understand the need to try to give some clarity on the situation when fans were expecting a move to be made on Monday. We’re fans like everyone else, and believe Mike Norvell should have been fired on Monday. However, we have the ability to remove emotion from the situation and look at things as a whole:
FSU should’ve fired Mike Norvell today. However, never make a huge financial decision based on emotion. If FSU fires him in a month and makes a solid hire…all of the emotions you feel today will vanish
