FSU football: Rece Davis misses mark AGAIN regarding 2023 FSU and ACC
By Kelvin Hunt
ESPN can't stop talking about FSU football getting snubbed from the College Football Playoff seven months ago. It's like the guilty keep talking, hoping you'll forgive them. ESPN personality Rece Davis(who had a part in the shenanigans discussing leaving FSU out of the College Football Playoffs before it happened) took to YouTube to voice an opinion about a story that came out of ACC Media Days. 247 Sports recently commented the ACC needed more media representation, like SEC's Paul Finebaum, to gain more notoriety for the conference. Personally, Finebaum's show offers nothing to college football, and the thought of having another show like his makes me want to puke. The guy talks from both sides of his mouth and is an SEC shill. The ACC doesn't need a show like that. Rece Davis says the same thing but opines the ACC needs more elite teams to get more teams in the College Football Playoff. However, that's not the problem either.
The problem is the media perceive the ACC as a second-tier league. FSU was undefeated before Jordan Travis got hurt, and they were already talking about a one-loss Alabama jumping FSU in the polls. FSU and Clemson could be 11-0 and 10-1 going into the ACC Championship game, and I bet they wouldn't get the same level of respect as a team from the SEC or B1G. I've pointed it out a million times, Michigan didn't play a ranked team until week 10 last year, but nobody questioned their schedule. The B1G had EIGHT teams that were 7-6 or worse, and SIX were below .500. The ACC had a winning record against the SEC. FSU was 2-0 against the SEC last year, in the non-conference and blew out a top-five LSU team, and it didn't matter. In the video, Rece Davis says FSU was ELITE last year but was openly talking about the possibility of not making the playoff last fall. If teams run through the ACC, the ACC is weak. If Michigan runs through the B1G, they're elite. We can trace it to the 2013 FSU team. It's the greatest College Football Team of all time, and ESPN never mentions them in the same breath as other recent National Title teams. It's one of the main reasons FSU is fighting tooth and nail to leave this conference.
