FSU football: Predicting remaining dates on 'Noles 2024 schedule
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football fans already know several dates and opponents on the 2024 schedule. FSU fans knew the Noles would take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Dublin, Ireland, in the season opener on August 24 for some time. The Noles always finish the regular season with a game against the rival Florida Gators, so we knew when that game would take place on November 30. We've known the Noles will host Charleston Southern the week before that on November 23.
We've known the Noles would travel to Notre Dame on November 9 and will host the Memphis Tigers on September 14. The ACC announced another date and team on Tuesday, with FSU traveling to Duke on Friday, October 18. That's seven known dates, and I know some FSU fans believe the ACC is out to get the Noles because they are suing the conference to leave. I wouldn't put it past the ACC, and I don't have inside knowledge about where the rest of the games will fall. However, I will take a stab at predicting where the rest of the games may fall.
- August 24: vs. Georgia Tech, Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland
- September 2: vs. Boston College, Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, Florida
- September 7: Bye Week
- September 14: vs. Memphis Tigers, Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahasee, Florida
- September 21: vs. California Bears, Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, Florida
- September 28: vs. North Carolina Tar Heels, Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, Florida
- October 5: @ SMU Mustangs, Gerald J. Ford Stadium, Dallas, Texas
- October 12: Bye Week
- October 18: @Duke Blue Devils, Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham, North Carolina
- October 26: vs. Clemson Tigers, Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, Florida
- November 2: Bye Week
- November 9: @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Notre Dame Stadium, Notre Dame, Indiana
- November 16: @ Miami Hurricanes, Doak South, Miami, Florida
- November 23: vs. Charleston Southern, Buccaneers, Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, Florida
- November 30: vs. Florida Gators, Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, Florida
Italics are not set^ in stone yet.
If the ACC made FSU play a game on September 7, just five days after playing Boston College they should forfeit the rest of the season, especially after playing the first game overseas. FSU has seven home games this year, and we already know when two of the road games will take place. Miami plays on the 27th and FSU has played them later in the year. North Carolina has three straight home games in September, so it made sense to put them on the road at FSU on the 28th. I put the bye weeks to have one in each month, which makes sense. I could see the ACC giving FSU a trio of Clemson, Notre Dame, and Miami in consecutive weeks, and FSU asking for a bye week there to break it up.
If there were the schedule FSU gets Wednesday night, how would you feel about it?
