Florida State football has been through its fair share of struggles through two games of the 2024 regular season with losses to Georgia Tech and Boston College.

The fan base has expressed frustrations about what has transpired in Tallahassee where the program that was projected to win the conference and contend for a spot in the College Football Playoff looks to be unlikely at this point.

Florida State released their projected depth chart for their home contest versus Memphis which will take place in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium at noon Eastern time. The projected depth chart always looks like the staff did not make any huge corrections.

As we have seen in the past with this coaching staff, they choose not to make many huge chances to have a sense of familiarity and comfort.

When fans look at the depth chart, they focus on the fact of quarterback DJ Uiagalelei being listed as the starting signal-caller. We at ChopChat have already written several articles on the topic such as this one.

However, there is another name that wants to make a change for veteran tight end Kyle Morlock. The former Division II transfer has had an unforgettable 2024 campaign where he had three dropped passes. This is not common for Morlock last season.

With younger pieces such as Landen Thomas and Amaree Williams on the roster, the Seminole fan base is already clamoring for the veteran to take fewer snaps. As we know, the tight end position is an important piece in head football coach Mike Norvell's offensive scheme since he runs two tight end sets.

I think Morlock will start to have a bounce-back campaign. He performed well during the fall camp. The 6'6" weapon could be a useful weapon for Uiagalelei (and/or Brock Glenn) when they need a conversion.
