FSU football: Impact players for the Seminoles versus Memphis
DT JOSHUA FARMER
Florida State has been disappointed in its defensive efforts with its ability to stop the opposing team's rushing attack. The Seminoles were thought to have one of the best defensive lines in the country in the preseason.
However, that statement has not been true throughout two games in 2024. The defensive line has not maintained the point of attack at the line of scrimmage.
Florida State is having to replace defensive end Jared Verse and defensive tackles Braden Fiske and Fabien Lovett Sr. from last year's roster. That is a ton of production to replace. However, fans thought that a combination of Patrick Payton, Joshua Farmer, Darrell Jackson Jr., Marvin Jones Jr., and Sione Lolohea would be top-tier unit in the ACC.
The truth of the matter is that they have not been good. They are allowed to get better with their play though. One defensive lineman that I think you will see improvement from this year is Joshua Farmer. He recorded 32 total tackles (seven for loss) and five sacks last year.
It is time for the talented defensive tackle to step up versus Memphis.
