FSU football: 3 veterans that should bounce back for the Seminoles versus Memphis
RB LAWRANCE TOAFILI
One of the more surprising developments that has happened early this season is that Florida State's offense has struggled to run the football effectively. The Seminoles added talented pieces such as Alabama's Roydell Williams and Indiana's Jaylin Lucas (it was announced that he is out for the season now) in the offseason.
The identity of the offense was supposed to be running the football, especially with having a new quarterback DJ Uiagalelei at the helm. This could allow Uiagalelei to utilize his strength of throwing the football downfield by giving him easier passing opportunities.
The Seminoles seem to be missing do-it-all Trey Benson, who accumulated 1,800+ rushing yards and 23 touchdowns during his two-year playing career in Tallahassee. Benson is now with the Arizona Cardinals so he cannot suit up in the garnet and gold anymore.
One player who has been nonexistent through the first two games is running back Lawrance Toafili. After his performance in the ACC Championship Game, you thought that would have generated momentum. However, other than the 28-yard touchdown in the opening drive versus Georgia Tech, Toafili has recorded eight carries for 9 rushing yards.
On the receiving end, Toafili has accumulated six receptions for 38 receiving yards. There have been a couple of drops that have plagued him (as well as some throws that would have been difficult to haul in). With that being said, the former four-star prospect knows the expectations of himself and will look to bounce back in a huge way versus Memphis.
