LINEBACKERS' AGGRESSION

The Seminoles were hurting this offseason as their top two tacklers from last season graduated and went to the NFL in linebackers Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune.

While DeLoach and Bethune were not elite collegiate linebackers, they were good linebackers who were able to come up in space to effectively make a tackle. That was not something that we saw during Saturday's loss to Georgia Tech.

Fans were hesitant about the linebacker position room in the offseason after losing the two veterans. However, media members who attended practice talked about how solid the unit looked as well as individuals such as head football coach Mike Norvell and defensive coordinator Adam Fuller thought that the linebackers were improving with the addition of Auburn's Cam Riley.

I know that the Seminoles bringing back veteran DJ Lundy helped with the rotation. I also realize that Cam Riley will bring much-needed leadership to the room. Let's not forget about the way Blake Nichelson came up in run support. However, I realize that fans are critical about rotations such as Justin Cryer not playing in the game as a linebacker.

I believe that this is a make-it-or-break-it game for the linebackers as Boston College will be looking to establish the run early and often. Linebackers coach Randy Shannon will have his work cut out for him.
