MISSED TACKLES

As we navigated into the Georgia Tech contest, we highlighted the fact that the Yellow Jackets liked to establish the running game where averaged 203.8 rushing yards per game (12th in the FBS).

It seems like the Yellow Jackets got everything they wanted through the running game where they had 190 rushing yards. They were led by running back Jamal Haynes, who recorded 11 carries for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Plus, quarterback Haynes King had 15 rushing attempts for 54 yards.

Unfortunately, much of the issue was that the ball carriers were not even touched until they were at least four yards downfield. Georgia Tech knew their identity on offense with the ability to run the football. They did just that on Saturday.

The defensive line did not create any pressure up front and was consistently getting pushed back which opened up huge lanes for rushers to go through. The linebackers/safeties then had to make tackles in space where there were several instances of it happening.
