FSU football: A glance at 2024 Georgia Tech by the numbers

FSU football will look to continue its regular season winning ways in Dublin, Ireland, against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Noles enter the contest as -11.5 betting favorites, with a 55.5 points total. Those odds imply a 34-22 win for the Noles.
The Yellow Jackets won four of their final six games in 2023, with the two losses against Clemson and Georgia.
Here's how they finished the 2023 season:

- 43.53 percent third downs converted allowed

-Defensive FEI (opponent-adjusted with garbage time removed): No. 77 nationally
Thoughts
Georgia Tech relies on its running game, which involves a steady dose of its leading running back Jamal Haynes, and quarterback Haynes King. They ran the ball 56 percent of the time and used lots of eye candy and misdirection. King isn't accurate (61 percent completion) while only attempting 7.7 yards per pass. He had 16 interceptions last year but was only sacked on about four percent of their passing plays because they usually get rid of it quickly. Georgia Tech struggled against the better defenses they faced. They only managed 3.91 ypp against Clemson and 4.72 ypp against Miami. However, they allowed 6.33 ypp or better six times last year. They struggled to stop the run and had no pass rush, though they were opportunistic with 25 takeaways on defense. It'll be the first year under new defensive coordinator Tyler Santucci, the DC at Duke last year. FSU averaged 6.18 ypp against his defense last year. If FSU stops the run against Georgia Tech, it's going to be a long night for Hayne King. It'll be extra long if they can't stop FSU's run game, and I'm betting they can't.
