Florida State football's coaching staff has continued its hot streak on the recruiting trails as they recently acquired highly-touted prospects such as four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley, four-star tight end Chase Loftin, and four-star defensive tackles Kevin Wynn and Myron Charles.

The Seminole fan base has gone from "Where are all of the commitments?" to "Another day, another committed prospect for Florida State?" It seems like individuals worry about the Seminoles' recruiting efforts every year then the program picks it up later in the summer before the season kicks off.

It also helps that Florida State football has a combined 23-4 record over the past two seasons while arch-rivals Florida and Miami continue to struggle on the field with their products. Nonetheless, the Seminoles need to continue to exert its dominance on the recruiting trail.

Defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. has been a fantastic addition to the coaching staff where the secondary has showcased itself to be a good unit on pass defense and Surtain Sr. has consistently showcased his recruiting prowess.

Surtain Sr. acquired four defensive backs in the 2024 recruiting cycle with Charles Lester III, Jamari Howard, Cai Bates, and Ricky Knight III. While losing out on KJ Bolden hurt, it still provides a firm foundation for the position for years to come.

Florida State previously did not have any defensive back prospects committed to its 2025 class. However, on Sunday night, that changed as four-star cornerback Gregory "Zae" Thomas from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida decided to commit to the Seminoles over the Clemson Tigers.

Thomas has been trending to the Seminoles for quite some time. Clemson had a valiant effort, but the talented defensive back prospect has had a long-standing relationship with Surtain Sr. from back when he was the head football coach at American Heritage High School.

I wonder if this could open the door for his high school teammate (four-star running back Byron Louis) to commit soon since they are close with one another. Nonetheless, this is a great get for the Seminoles as they continue its classification of "DBU".
