Florida State will once again have to replace a talented player from the 2023 squad as premier pass rusher Jared Verse was selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.

The Seminoles have to replace more NFL draft picks than they would like. However, that is how today's college football landscape is. Teams have to prepare themselves to lose players on their roster to graduation, transfer portal, and the NFL.

Luckily, Florida State returns rising superstar Patrick Payton, who recorded seven sacks during the 2023 season. Payton gained weight in the offseason and is now listed at 254 pounds where it should be more effective for him getting after the passer.

The coaching staff also acquired two transfers in the portal with Georgia's Marvin Jones Jr. and Oregon State's Sione Lolohea. Fans navigate to Jones Jr's name since his father was a former linebacker who played with the Seminoles in the 1990s (Marvin "Shade Tree" Jones Sr.). He was a former five-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle that the coaching staff wanted.

However, he elected to sign with the Georgia Bulldogs. After not playing much with the Bulldogs, he decided to transfer to Florida State for more playing opportunities. While he does not have the most production, Jones Jr. is primed for the challenge to make the Seminoles' pass rush special this season and turn them from a good team to a great team.
