2024 NFL Combine: 5 FSU players that could improve their stock with great performance
By Kelvin Hunt
Trey Benson
Trey Benson ranks among the top running backs that will be at the 2024 NFL Combine. He was a player that had no shot at the NFL before he got to FSU from the Transfer Portal. Benson has proven he's a physical back, capable of breaking tackles and breaking long touchdown runs with his breakaway speed. He has excellent size at 6'0" and 223 pounds. Benson has been working out since sitting out the Orange Bowl, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him weigh less than 223 this week in an effort to run faster. Benson projects as a second-round selection by most, and the RB position isn't as coveted as it was years ago.
However, a fast 40 time could be enough to make opposing GM's salivate at the potential. Benson ran a sub 11.0 100 meter dash in high school, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him run a low 4.4. If he runs below a 4.4, I think some team will take a flier on him earlier. He'll likely test well in the vertical and broad jumps. It'll be interesting to see if he particpates in the shutle, three-cone drill, and others.
