Florida State football lost yet another road game, as they fall to North Carolina State by a score of 21-11. This was an absolute winnable game by the Seminoles, with the Wolfpack only recording 286 total yards and having to convert a 4th and 6 to seal the game.
To make matters worse, head football coach Mike Norvell alluded in his opening press conference when he was hired was that special teams would be the core foundation of his program. It certainly was when the Wolfpack recovered two punts that bounced off of Florida State.
At some point, all you can do is laugh. The Seminoles have been cursed since that dreaded day in December when they were snubbed in making the College Football Playoff in favor of a one-loss Alabama Crimson Tide squad.
CAN'T DEFEND IT ANYMORE
There comes a point where someone cannot defend what has transpired. This is a proud program that is used to competing for conference and national championships. Coach Norvell now has a combined 38-33 record in his six seasons at Florida State. The Seminoles are now in danger of having four of those years being losing seasons.
This will never be an opportunity for myself to throw up the pitchfork, but it should be pretty obvious that the "comprehensive assessment" should be completed now. The administration shouldn't have to see anything else.
Coach Norvell was asked about if he had held the standard at Florida State, and he emphatically said no. This is a situation where I believe the university will finally rip the band-aid off. He is a great person and means well for the university, but the job seems to be too much to handle for him.
This is the right time for a change.
