FSU's search for a legitimate No. 2 wide receiver to step up might be over.
We touched on some social media silliness about Lawayne McCoy earlier this week and now, for some real talk, the sophomore looks like another guy that FSU can rely on in the passing game. After missing most of training camp with an injury, McCoy looks healthy and ready to be a big contributor for the rest of the season.
Mike Norvell said that Lawayne McCoy attacked his rehab after an offseason injury the right way, and he can feel the confidence he's playing with every rep.

McCoy recorded 3 catches for 39 yards and a TD against Miami, and is listed as a starter on the depth chart for Pitt.
McCoy is listed as the 'WR5' starter over freshman Jayvan Boggs this week and Mike Norvell believes he's going to be able to build on his game last week against Miami.
"I think he's had a good week this week as well. You can see the confidence that's continued to grow," Norvell said. "Unfortunately, he missed a good amount of fall camp and with that setback he attacked every day in the training room. He attacked his rehab and all the things that he could do, so that there was no dropoff when he came back. He was ready to go attack the field."
One area where McCoy really excelled late in last Saturday's game is finding a way to get open when Tommy Castellanos was scrambling around and the play went off schedule. McCoy was able to consistently get into his sightline and make himself an available target.
That was the case on FSU's first touchdown. Castellanos gets flushed from the pocket and sees four Hurricane defenders spying on him at the goal line. McCoy slips behind them and Castellanos finds him for the score.
McCoy is only a sophomore, so FSU has him for a couple more years and the growth that he shows for the rest of this season should bode well for the future.
"With every rep, he's continuing to grow, and I think you just feel his confidence. We've got high expectations for him here in the immediate and a lot of excitement about what the long term is going to be. So, we just want to see him continue to stay the course," Norvell added.
