Mike Norvell chews out Billy Napier and tosses UF flag to ground after rivalry loss
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football lost its season-finale against the rival Florida Gators 31-11. It was a game where FSU consistently beat itself, turning the ball over five times.
The FSU offensive line continued to perform like Swiss Cheese as freshman quarterback Luke Kromenhoek ran for his life most of the game. He had some bright spots but was under constant pressure from his blindside. The Noles trailed 14-0 at halftime but trimmed the lead to 14-3 and were in position to cut into the lead again, but a turnover changed the game for good.
FSU has beaten Florida in the last two seasons, so it was the first time Billy Napier has beaten FSU since becoming the head coach. After the game ended, some Florida players took a Florida flag and briefly planted it on the FSU logo in the middle of the field.
Offensive lineman Julian Armella, a legacy player who doesn't play much, was the first to get to the flag and remove it.
FSU head coach Mike Norvell wasn't happy about the antics and let Florida head coach Billy Napier know about it before snatching the flag and tossing it on the ground as a Florida assistant attempted to take the flag from him.
It was the most upset I've seen Mike Norvell. However, he needs to take those feelings of losing 10 games onto the recruiting trail over the next few weeks. The news broke before the game that UCF head coach Gus Malzahn will be the new offensive coordinator. That news should help get some quality players.
If you win games, you don't have to worry about the opposing team attempting bush league stuff like that.
