The Miami Hurricanes choked like they always do when they have an opportunity to make some noise late in the season. They hosted the Louisville Cardinals on Friday night and never led in the game. Louisville took a 14-0 lead, 17-10, 17-13, and finally a 24-13 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Louisville defense forced Carson Beck into multiple interceptions in the game and forced a Miami offense that hasnโ€™t scored 30 points against a Power Four team yet this season to play from behind.

The game shouldnโ€™t have been as close as it was. Louisville forced a huge Miami punt late in the fourth quarter, but the Cardinals fumbled the ball on their first play, and Miami recovered the fumble and scored on its first play. They went for two and converted to trim the lead to 24-21.

Miami forced Louisville to punt and took over with 3:55 remaining, only needing a field goal to tie the game. Miami methodically went down the field and was in field goal range with 36 seconds remaining. However, Miami elected to throw a pass on a third-and-one play, and it was intercepted by Louisville to essentially end the game.

Itโ€™s the most Mario Cristobal thing to do with a quarterback who had already thrown three interceptions. FSU fans rejoiced in the Miami loss:

We knew the Hurricane offense would cost Miami at some point this season. It's why we pointed out they hadn't reached the 30 point mark against a Power Four team after their win over FSU. The Miami offense isn't anything special. Their defense is good, but it's not elite unless they generate turnovers.

It'll be interesting to see if the usual Miami implosion after finally losing a game happens. They have games against SMU, NC State, and Pittsburgh where I could see another loss happening.

It would be hilarious to see them get so much hype and spend all that money on transfer players, only to fall on their face like always.
