Florida State football has one official visitor expected this weekend: three-star safety commit Jemari Foreman. That’s probably a good thing since Florida State has been fighting off the advances of Louisville pursuing Foreman hard on the recruiting trail. This weekend will allow the Noles to affirm Foreman’s spot in the 2027 recruiting class.

Florida State has been working hard on securing a commitment from four-star safety Ta’Shawn Poole. The Georgia native took an official visit to Florida State last week and canceled an upcoming visit to Miami. It sounded like it was a recruiting battle between Tennessee and Florida State last week, but there was some smoke that Georgia could enter into the picture.

However, UGA staff writer Benjamin Wolk published a crystal ball prediction for Florida State a couple of days ago.

4-star Ta'Shawn Poole would be a massive addition to FSU's 2027 recruiting class

Wolk gave a confidence rating of “six”, which is fairly standard for predictions. The first crystal ball prediction for Poole to Florida State was from Noles247 writer Brendan Sonnone, with a confidence level of “five”, though I took that one with a grain of salt because he admittedly puts those in sometimes without any real information to stir the pot.

Wolk’s prediction could mean nothing as well in today’s climate. However, Poole is one of the top realistic targets remaining for Florida State, in what looks to be a much smaller high school class than last year. Poole and four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune would be the two most coveted players remaining on their board.

Poole is the composite top-50 player that Florida State has a realistic shot to land. He’s the No. 64 player and the No. 5-ranked safety nationally. He’d likely come in with a chance to start immediately at the Rover position, arguably one of the most important positions in Tony White’s defense. Remember all the tackles Earl Little Jr. made(and those he missed last season)? That could be Poole as a freshman in 2027. He has great size and length, and is a great multi-sport athlete at Howard High School in Georgia.

Florida State only had 10 commits in the class and will likely finish with between 15 and 20. Poole, LeJeune, Jason Lewis, DaJohn Yarborough, and Marquis Fennell would be names to look out for regarding a commitment.

There may be a few more names in the mix here and there, but don't expect this Florida State class to be among the highest-ranking teams. It seems like General Manager John Garrett has made a decision to go small in this recruiting class for a few reasons. It could free up some funds for the transfer portal and retention efforts. The other factor is that Florida State took a huge recruiting class from the high school ranks with the 2026 recruiting class.

Can Florida State hold off Tennessee and an opportunistic Miami program that loves to throw big wads of cash to players at the last minute? If not, it'll be another negative that opposing programs can use against Mike Norvell and Florida State.
