Florida State basketball (16-14, 9-8 ACC) defeated the Pitt Panthers 75-74 on Wednesday night, ensuring a winning regular season and at least a .500 record in ACC play after starting 0-5 in the conference.

The final score sucked for bettors, as the Noles were -2.5 betting favorites and led by as many as 24 points in the second half, and Pitt nailed a meaningless three-pointer as time expired to give them the baddest of bad beats.

FSU has one game remaining, hosting the SMU Mustangs in the regular season finale. FSU lost its first matchup with SMU by three points, but it was a game they could have won.

A win to close out the regular season over SMU would be huge for the program

The Noles are 8-2 over their last 10 games and are currently the No. 8 seed in the ACC Tournament, with the potential to finish as high as the No. 7 seed or the No. 10 seed, depending on the outcome of Saturday's games.

The Noles would receive a first round bye if they are the No. 9 seed or better. They were the No. 11 seed last year and lost to the No. 14 seed Syracuse Orange in the first round of the ACC Tournament.

They have not played in any postseason games beyond the ACC Tournament since the 2020-21 season when they made it to the Sweet 16. It seems likely the Noles will receive an NIT bid for the chance to continue playing and building towards the future. Luke Loucks secured the No. 8 recruiting class nationally in his first season, and all signs point towards a bright future for the program.
