FSU softball (13-4) continued its winning ways, defeating crosstown rival FAMU 14-0 in a five-inning run-rule affair on Wednesday evening. It’s their second five-inning run-rule win in a row after losing against Alabama.

The Noles used several pitchers on the mound, with Ashtyn Danley getting the win. Makenna Reid and freshman Marlee Gaskell pitched one inning each. FSU pitchers struck out 11 batters, allowed no walks, and only two hits.

The FSU offense used 14 hits, eight walks, and two errors to push across its runs. Several batters had multiple hits and RBI’s, including Jaysoni Beachum, Ashtyn Danley, Makenna Sturgis, and Kennedy Harp.

The latter is a bat FSU fans have been waiting to return to the lineup after recovering from an injury suffered in the latter part of last season. Harp went 2-2 with a double, two walks, and two RBI.

The Noles will return to action in the Unconquered Invitational this weekend, hosting Florida Gulf Coast in a doubleheader on Thursday and playing Rutgers on Saturday.

The next 10 games or so will be games FSU should win, and will continue to provide much needed experience for all of the young players on the team. It looks like FSU is trying to ease Kennedy Harp into action, so these next few games will be important to get her back to her 2025 pre-injury form that featured a .400+ hitter with power. A healthy Harp changes this FSU offense drastically, so her play will be something to keep an eye on over the next couple of weeks.
