FSU football had practice on Wednesday as they prepared for a huge rivalry game against the Miami Hurricanes. These games always involve huge momentum swings that often determine the winners of the game.

I can think of several instances over the past few years. FSU is a massive -21 point betting underdog and will look to preserve its three-game winning streak in the series. Mike Norvell hasn't lost against Mario Cristobal, and pulling an upset on Saturday night would be a monumental feat.

Mike Norvell knows it all starts with the mental approach to the game. FSU is one of the most talented football teams nationally, but it hasn't been reflected in its record at 1-6.

FSU hasn't been as mentally weak as the Willie Taggart teams when adversity hits. They don't fold instantly, at least like those teams. Trust me, FSU has dealt with a ton of adversity, with 13 turnovers in only seven games. The FSU defense has faced nine turnovers, resulting in opposing offenses starting a drive on the FSU side of the field. The FSU defense has held its own considering, but it's the mental approach to executing an assignment or catching a pass where FSU needs the most attention.

FSU is among the worst blocking teams nationally and among the league leaders in dropped passes among receivers. FSU likely has at least two more wins if they didn't drop so many passes. It'll be a hostile environment Saturday night as Miami fans finally expect to win a game after taking three consecutive losses.

IF FSU can avoid shooting itself in the foot (I wouldn't bet on it), the game should be more competitive than most expect.
