FSU football head coach Mike Norvell took another huge gamble by inviting tons of high-profile players to a big game. The gamble paid off in the season opener when the Noles upset Alabama, but it looked like it was going to backfire on Saturday night for the Miami game.
FSU had a who’s who list of recruiting targets on hand, only to see Miami build a 28-3 lead going into the fourth quarter. FSU fought to make the score more respectable in a 28-22 loss. It’s not clear if the game had a negative or positive effect on recruiting, but one recruiting target decided to back away from his commitment to Georgia Tech on Sunday.
Three-star defensive end Chris Carbin was a player FSU had been on for a while after missing on several other defensive targets earlier in the recruiting cycle:

We suppose it’s good he has already de-committed, but he’s already announced a visit to Michigan on November 1st. The Wolverines will host Purdue that weekend. Auburn offered a couple of days ago. Auburn is about two ours southwest and FSU is about four and a half hours south of his home. Carbin was at FSU when they defeated Alabama, so he's seen FSU at its peak atmosphere.
Carbin has good size for a high school player at 6'4" and 240 pounds. FSU has shown they will play freshmen in the trenches if they have the physicality to hold up, the Desir twins are prime examples and likely a positive in this recruitment.
We'll see how this one shakes out, but it would be great if FSU could get back into the win column with him on campus for the Pittburgh game. It would be even better if they could get him to commit and shut down his recruitment and not take visits to Michigan or Auburn.
I doubt that happens in this day and age, so we'll have to see how this one plays out.
