FSU FOOTBALL
Florida State football had a disastrous defeat to the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes by a score of 28-22 in a sold-out Doak Campbell Stadium. The score might have indicated that the contest was close. The Seminoles fought back, but the Hurricanes handled them in the first three quarters.
Even though they battled back in the game and made it look more competitive than it was, there should be no moral victories in Tallahassee after losing to your rivals. Florida State is an unconquered spirit that never wavers. This is a proud program with a rich championship history, so the squad should never settle for participation trophies.
This loss on Saturday taught the fan base that this squad has a long way to go to be a consistent product. The Alabama season-opening victory was great and all, but after the two straight losses to Virginia and Miami, the win looks to be in the rearview mirror.
AP POLL
The fan base came into the Miami game worried about the defense stopping Miami's rushing attack with Mark Fletcher Jr. and CharMar Brown, but the Seminoles did just that on Saturday night as the Hurricanes had 32 rushes for 98 yards.
However, quarterback Carson Beck and wide receiver Malachi Toney were able to make the Seminoles pay for loading the box to stop the rushing attack. Plus, the three turnovers did not do any favors.
Anyway, this article isn't about what went wrong on Saturday's loss. We will have plenty of breakdowns on the Miami game. The recent AP Poll released on Sunday afternoon had Florida State ranked No. 25.

The Seminoles were ranked No. 18 during the Miami week. However, I thought No. 25 was way too generous. Florida State doesn't look like a top-25 team. This should have been a squad outside the top-25 and earn their spot back.
It should be a great bounce-back game against Pittsburgh at noon in Doak Campbell Stadium this Saturday. It's time to respond!
