Florida State has taken criticism over the past few seasons. Critics have intimated that FSU isn’t as valuable as they think. Why is FSU asking for more money from the ACC when they can’t win games? The Florida State administration doesn’t know how to manage money.

If you name it, it was said by clueless media and fans from opposing teams. FSU sued the ACC for more money because they deserved it, and other teams that didn’t pull their weight in TV viewership didn’t deserve the same amount of money.

Sure, other ACC teams have some brand recognition. Clemson and Miami come to mind, but the difference between FSU and those two? FSU doesn’t have to be elite to draw big TV ratings. FSU averages more TV viewers per game than both in 2025, with Miami vaguely in the mix to make the College Football Playoff.

FSU is 5-5 and averaging 4.92 million viewers per game, which ranks No. 9 nationally and the highest among ACC teams. Miami ranks No. 18 with 3.74 million viewers, and Clemson at No. 19 with 3.66 million viewers.

Here’s the crazy part: FSU could have made the gap even larger had they not lost four games in a row to have some games relegated to the ACC Network. However, FSU will have a primetime game on Friday night against NC State on ESPN. They will finish their regular season against the rival Florida Gators on ESPN2 at either 3:30 or 4:30 p.m.

There’s a chance both games could help increase their overall average per game. So, for folks who are clueless about how business works. This is one of the reasons FSU sued the ACC. They bring in the most eyeballs and deserve the most money. Whether you tune in to see them win or lose, you’re tuning in, and that’s all that matters.
