FSU football: Mike Norvell addresses the frustrations amongst the fan base
Florida State football has been disappointing during the 2024 season, with an unspeakable 1-8 record. It is difficult to keep up with the losses anymore because it feels like a copy-and-paste performance from the university's football team.
The coaching staff, players, and fans feel like everyone wants to fast forward to 2025 (for good reason). The problem is that major changes must be made to turn this ship around. Head football coach Mike Norvell did so back in 2020 and 2021. However, those were his first two seasons.
I completely understand the notion of struggles happening in Year 1 or 2, given that he was taking over from a previous regime. However, it is inexcusable to have what has transpired in Year 5.
Nonetheless, Norvell spoke to the media about fans' frustrations: "For our fan base, I understand the frustration. There's no fan that's more frustrated than I am."
He has demonstrated good speeches which hit home some points. However, as we all know, actions speak louder than words. I am not suggesting that I am 100% confident that Norvell can get Florida State back to the nation's elite.
Honestly, the 13-1 season from 2023 shadowed recruiting, development, and coaching issues that were happening with the Seminoles. In a way, I am glad that Norvell has this wake up because I don't believe that major changes would have been made if Florida State had a 7-5/8-4 record in 2024.
We are one of the worst teams in college football. I cannot believe how this got so bad. A program that was in the thick of the discussion for a College Football Playoff spot is struggling to win two games in a season the year after.
I am frustrated, fans are frustrated... We are ALL frustrated with the results. I hope that the Seminoles can get to the light at the end of the tunnel.
