Florida State football now possesses a 1-8 record with losses over Georgia Tech, Boston College, Memphis, SMU, Clemson, Duke, Miami, and North Carolina. The Seminoles' fan base is in limbo as this was not the results that they expected after accomplishing an undefeated regular season and conference championship in 2023.

After that dreadful day in December when the College Football Playoff committee left out an undefeated Florida State squad for a one-loss Alabama Crimson Tide team, it has been downhill ever since.

The road to improvement in 2024 does not get any easier as the Seminoles will now take on No. 10 Notre Dame in South Bend. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Seminoles are listed as 25.5-point underdogs to the Fighting Irish.

To make matters worse, the Seminoles have not defeated Notre Dame on the road since 2003. It won't be a quick fix for Florida State's offense to get it figured out next week with redshirt freshman Brock Glenn and true freshman Luke Kromenhoek at quarterback.

This has been an extremely disappointing product to write about to the point where it feels like copy-and-paste every week, with the losses beginning to stack up. This is the fifth year under Norvell, and it feels like it is his first.

Nonetheless, the spread was a bit surprising to me because the Seminoles have only scored at least 21 points once this season during the season opener versus Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland. The Seminoles' effort versus North Carolina at home looked very hopeless.

I hope that the program did not give up on showing effort and pride for the university that we know and love. However, the truth is that the Seminoles have nothing to play for other than the notion of not getting embarrassed (they are already the punch line to the college football landscape).

Let's hope that the Seminoles can display life in South Bend.
