How does the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from an undefeated National Championship Team with the greatest college offense of all time continue to get disrespected among other Heisman winners?
It's like the 2013 season never happened for most sports outlets. 2013 rarely gets mentioned among the best college football teams of all time, and Jameis Winston's Heisman-winning season is like an afterthought.
Below is a prime example:
Travis Hunter and Charles Woodson listed, and not Jameis Winston, is laughable. Credit to those guys for playing on both sides of the ball, but Ashton Jeanty should have won the Heisman this year, and Charles Woodson averaged one reception per game as a receiver. He was good on punt returns, so I give credit there.
Hunter didn't play against any top competition ever, and his team lost three games!
Take Hunter off and put Lamar Jackson way higher. Also, Jameis Winston should be above Tebow and Manziel. I don't think folks realize Jameis Winston passed for over 4,000 yards and only had 384 passing attempts. Manziel didn't pass for 4,000 and had 434 passing attempts. Yes, he was effective running the ball, but Winston wasn't even playing in most of the second halves of those games because FSU was so dominant.
He EASILY could have put up Joe Burrow numbers from 2019. There's a reason that that LSU team only scored three more points than 2013 FSU, even though they played an extra game. FSU averaged 51 points a game, with Winston leading all quarterbacks in nearly every statistical passing category.
So please explain how he continues to get left off these lists, and players who were not even the best at their positions get put on? It's maddening.
